The Fiscal Services Division (FSD) of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) is looking for a motivated, technically strong team member for our Accounting Branch. Under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator III, the Accounting Administrator I Specialist (AAI) performs complex and challenging professional accounting work. This includes establishing and maintaining accounts and financial records. The AAI is responsible for setting up and managing various FI$Cal configurations and reports for the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA). This is to ensure that fund and appropriation balances are accurate and in accordance with FI$Cal standards.
Additionally, the AAI serves as a liaison with other Boards, Departments, Offices (BDOs), and Control Agencies. They coordinate and resolve complex multi-BDO accounting issues and prepare reports for management. The AAI also leads and oversees special projects within the accounting office. This role involves preparing and proposing procedures as well as creating flowcharts to document applications and processes. Moreover, the AAI analyzes business processes, including the policies, procedures, and practices of state agencies, to make recommendations and develop new processes or revise existing ones.

This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on the California Air Resource Boards' (CARB) current telework policy. While the CARB may support telework, some in-person attendance is also required.
The p ositions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria outlined in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense.
