The 5th Judicial Districts Polk County Juvenile Court Services has an immediate opening for a full-time Juvenile Court Specialist 1.

The starting salary for new State of Iowa Judicial employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range of $17.72 /hr. The pay range is $17.72 - $27.36/hour or $1417.60 - $2188.80/biweekly. Adjustments may be made if the successful applicant has relevant experience and/or education.

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P, intermittent weekend work

Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

Responsibilities for this position include:

• Extensive data entry and word processing
• Responding to visitors and answering the telephone
• Processing information within the Electronic Data Management System (EDMS)
• Records and updates information in ICIS
• Prepares or drafts correspondence and other related documents
• Data Collection and scheduling meetings
• Providing support to Specialty Courts
• Assisting Administrative Assistant on an as-needed basis
• Attending all staff Districtwide and Specialist Specific meetings
• Recording meeting notes for Unit meetings
• Collaborating with Clerks to confirm information
• Assisting Juvenile Court Officers (JCOs) in gathering information
• Opening, organizing and distributing the mail

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency).

AND

One (1) year of work experience

At the discretion of the hiring supervisor, additional years of education (Associate or Bachelor Degree) may be substituted for experience on the bases that successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours, or academic equivalent, equals one year of experience.

Candidates must pass a preemployment criminal background check.
