Job Title: Information Security Engineer

Location: Herndon, VA

Salary: 110,000 - 120,000/year

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Information Security Engineer with 4-5 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management. The ideal candidate will have expertise in CMMC compliance, vulnerability and threat assessments, and the development of security policies and procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of risk mitigation strategies, security best practices, and technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and security policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct vulnerability assessments and threat analyses to identify and mitigate security risks.
• Ensure compliance with CMMC, NIST 800-171, and other regulatory frameworks.
• Develop, update, and enforce security policies, procedures, and SOPs.
• Perform risk assessments and implement security controls to protect systems and data.
• Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to implement security best practices.
• Respond to and manage security incidents, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
• Conduct penetration testing and remediation activities to strengthen security posture.
• Support audits and compliance activities by preparing reports and documentation.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security trends.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 4-5 years of experience in information security, cybersecurity, or a related role.
• CISSP certification (Required).
• Experience with CMMC compliance and cybersecurity risk frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, Rapid7).
• Proficiency in threat intelligence analysis and security incident response.
• Experience documenting security policies, procedures, and technical SOPs.
• Familiarity with SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and cloud security.
• Solid understanding of network security, encryption, and authentication protocols.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure, AWS, or other cloud security platforms.
• Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture and security automation.
• Hands-on experience with forensics tools and security monitoring solutions.
