Job Description

Tx-Star Speech Language Services has been serving schools since 2010 and is currently partnered with over 40 school districts plus a multitude of educational institutions and regional cooperatives. Our staff are highly trained and experienced in educational environments, specifically special education roles. Tx-Star’s background of working with all disciplines within Special Education departments provides us unique insight into serving various districts and making strong matches between our contract service providers and the campuses and student populations they get to thrive in.

Through our partnerships with a growing number of Texas schools, we are actively recruiting  at the start of and all through each school year!

We are looking for Music Therapists to join our growing team in Houston, TX . As a contract Music Therapist, play a vital role in creating supportive and inclusive environments for students with special needs through the transformative power of music.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop individualized music therapy treatment plans based on assessment findings and in consultation with the interdisciplinary team.

  • Provide individual and group music therapy sessions using a variety of techniques and interventions to address cognitive, emotional, social, and physical goals.

  • Collaborate with educators and other professionals to integrate music therapy into the overall educational plan of each student.

  • Monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust treatment plans as needed to support student growth and development.

  • Stay up-to-date with federal and state regulations regarding special education and assessment practices.

  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and team members to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on goals and strategies.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, session notes, and progress reports.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy or related field.

  • Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) credential required.

  • Experience working with individuals with diverse learning needs, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, and emotional/behavioral disorders.

  • Familiarity of Special Education principles and practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other school staff as well parents of students.

  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to multiple school locations as needed.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in music therapy and special education.
