Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic virtual learning program. This remote position provides an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on students' academic journeys while working from the comfort of your own home.

As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for creating and implementing personalized education programs (IEPs) that address the unique needs of students in a virtual environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in online teaching and a deep understanding of educational technologies to support diverse learners.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide Individualized Instruction: Design and deliver specialized instruction through virtual platforms tailored to each student's learning style and needs.

Develop and Manage IEPs: Create, implement, and regularly update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal guidelines to ensure students' needs are met effectively.

Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with general education teachers and staff to ensure that students receive the appropriate accommodations and modifications in all areas of their education.

Monitor Student Progress: Keep detailed records of student performance, growth, and areas for improvement. Regularly assess and update progress toward IEP goals.

Engage with Families: Conduct virtual meetings with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to discuss student progress, learning strategies, and necessary support. Provide guidance to families on how to support their child's education at home.

Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities and collaborate with the teaching team to enhance your skills and contribute to the success of the program.

Required Qualifications:

Educational Background: A Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.

Licensure: A valid North Carolina teaching license with a Special Education endorsement.

Experience: At least 2 years of teaching experience in a school setting, with a focus on Special Education.

Technology Skills: Proficiency with virtual learning platforms, educational technology, and online communication tools.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to engage and build relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

IEP Expertise: Experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs for students with varying learning needs.

Autonomy and Teamwork: Ability to work independently while maintaining close collaboration with a remote team.
