Department The Psychology Department, located in the College for Health, Community and Policy, hosts one of the largest majors on campus (over 2,000 students) and offers degree programs at the BA, MS, and PhD level. Students at each level have opportunities to assist in faculty research. Our 22 tenured and tenure-track faculty represent many of the traditional subfields of Psychology, with many bridging between areas. Psychology faculty have a history of collaboration with researchers at the US Army Research Institute and various Industry and community partners. The department also has strong ties to the University of Texas Health San Antonio, Texas Biomedical Research Institute, Veterans Administration, Pearson Testing Company, San Antonio Military Medical Center (including Brooke Army Medical Center), the Institute for Army Surgical Research, and the STRONG STAR Consortium. Position Summary Outstanding candidates at the Senior Associate or Full Professor levels are invited to apply within the area of clinical psychology, with particular emphasis on empirically-supported assessment and treatment. This position is expected to contribute to the department's anticipated development of a Clinical Psychology PhD program in the near future. Areas of specialty are open, but the UTSA psychology program is looking to build synergy with respect to its concentrations in areas of health, mental health, and measurement. Importantly, candidates, regardless of research emphasis, should be able to teach within the areas of core curriculum (e.g., clinical interviewing/assessment, empirically-supported interventions, ethics, multicultural psychology, psychopathology, etc.). Preferred candidates will bridge or buttress undergraduate and non-clinical graduate programs to meet existing programmatic needs (e.g., clinical psychologist with expertise in biopsychology/physiological psychology, developmental/lifespan psychology, social psychology, multicultural psychology, personality psychology, military health, research methods, statistics, etc.). Candidates who are licensed or license-eligible in Texas are preferred to assist with clinical supervision opportunities. Successful candidates will demonstrate: (1) a strong research agenda, publication record, and track-record of funding at the Senior Associate or Full level, (2) a demonstrated ability to excel in undergraduate and graduate education, training, and mentorship, (3) potential to develop collaborative relationships with new and existing faculty members both within and across the other departments, and (4) a strong background and expertise in empirically-based interventions and assessment.
